About the WAPC Website

The WAPC website was launched in the early 2000s to provide a public source of information for collectors of stamps and other philatelic materials.  It can be viewed on mobile telephones, tablets, laptops and desktop computers.

Containing more than one hundred pages, the website:

  • raises awareness of the purpose and activities of the Western Australian Philatelic Council [WA Philatelic Council or WAPC]
  • provides meeting details for Western Australian philatelic clubs,
  • promotes upcoming philatelic events and
  • provides a range of other information for philatelists of all ages.

Although it is an Australian website, it receives visitors from across the world.  From Bulgaria to the United Kingdom, Romania to the United Arab Emirates, Russia, New Caledonia, Moldova, Lithuania, Iran, India, Germany, China, Canada, Japan, Singapore, Switzerland, Viet Nam, Austria, the United States of America and many other countries.

The website averages 1500 to 4500 visitors each calendar month.  Each visitor views from three to thirty pages per visit.  The most popular months for visiting the website are December to February.  The most popular pages are Upcoming Events and the Home Page (many visitors have the Home Page as a link).

The chart below shows visitor and viewing statistics for the six months from April to early October 2026.  The solid blue line is visitors; the solid purple line is views; the dashed lines are visitors and views from the previous six-month period.

WAPC WEBMASTERS AND WEBSITE VERSIONS

The original WAPC website was created by Jeff and Yvette Trinidad.  The domain web address for that website was different to the current website: it was w-a-p-c.com

Jeff and Yvette created and ran the website on their home server in Kalgoorlie, at their own expense.  Around 2009, Jeff and Yvette found themselves no longer able to continue the website due to a change in personal circumstances.  The website lapsed for about a year, during which time the domain name of w-a-p-c was taken over by another organisation.

In late December 2010, Johanna Stafford contacted the webhost WASPS to have a new website created for the WA Philatelic Council.  After taking a crash course in website design, Johanna was able to have the new website launched in early 2011 (albeit starting with only a few pages).  More than a decade later, a security protocol was added, resulting in the website name changing from http://etc to https://www.wapc.org.au .

The current WAPC website continues to be run by Johanna Stafford, at the expense of the WA Philatelic Council.

AWARDS FOR THE WAPC WEBSITE

In late 2025, with permission from the WAPC, Johanna entered the WAPC website in the New Zealand Philatelic Literature Exhibition.  The website was awarded a Vermeil medal and 75 points (from a possible 100 points).  The certificate is shown below.

In response to comments received from the jury team, the website then undertook a major transformation.  Johanna changed the website’s theme from Twenty Fifteen to Pressbook Premium then reviewed and revised every page.  In particular, the navigation menu was shortened and simplified.

It is hoped that the revamped website is more accessible and useful for you, our visitors and viewers.  We also hope that it will receive a higher award next time it is entered in an exhibition.  We shall let you know!
